Introduction by the Author
Well, I've read a lot of Crossover stories about Star
Trek: The Next Generation and Star Wars. Many were good. I
had thought the area was pretty well covered and had not
given much thought to writing one myself. But in all my
readings I had never seen one involving Deep Space Nine. I
will say now that I had not written anything for wither SW
or DS9 before this, but after seeing the episode "U.S.S.
Defiant" I got so hyped up that I had to. Another thing I
had seen prevalent in other Crossovers was an outright
battle between the Enterprise and some SD or something. As
one of the authors put it best, "...I found I was more
interested in writing a story than a battle..." or something
like that. So here is it, if you have ANY comments,
complaints, criticisms, concerns, questions, critiques,
reviews, flames, or anything please E-Mail it to
"site@xnet.com" Please drop a line, I'd love to hear
anything you have to say. Historian's note: This takes
place Right after the DS9 episode "U.S.S. Defiant" and
before the episode "Fascination." As far as the SW universe
goes I think it is like halfway through the movies. The
Death Star had destroyed that one planet but is not yet
finished. Dark (Darth :) Vadar and the Emperor are alive.
And, oh, I don't know, but you should be able to figure it
out. Oh, by the way, if you start reading this and say,
"Hey! This story doesn't have anything to do with Star
Wars," just be patient. It takes a while to set up the
plot. This is part one. I am now planing to only have two
parts as I have the plot all sketched out already, but if I
get any good suggestions that I choose to incorporate
anything could happen. Enjoy!
The Relentless Force of the Future
By Douglas Armstrong
Part: One
"Message coming in from Starfleet Command now
Commander," announced Dax.
"What could they want? I'll take it in my office,"
Commander Benjamin Sisko went up to his office. The doors
automatically closing behind him, insuring his privacy with
the strong sound-proof Cardassian engineering. Sisko sat
down put up his feet and switched on the terminal. "So,
Admiral, what can I do for you?"
There was a look of concern on Admiral Thurston's face.
He grimaced, then reluctantly began to speak, "Benjamin, how
are you?"
"Fine, but from the look on your face I don't know for
how long."
"How insightful. Hmmm," there was a meaningful pause,
I hate to ask you to do this after what you've been through,
but we just got some intelligence reports from the Gamma
Quadrant that we can't ignore."
"Don't tell me, the Jem'Haddar... or..."
"Well we don't know, but we want to send in the Defiant
to investigate."
"We just got her back from the Marqee(sp), but we'll
give it the once over and head on in."
"Good luck."
"You sound worried."
"Yeah, well, anything that worries the Jem'Haddar
worries me."
"That bad?"
"Let's hope not. But... Well, it might be the Borg."
Sisko immediately silenced and also put on a pale
worried look. Admiral Thurston logged off without comment.
Commander Benjamin Sisko sat there for a while in the silent
Cardassian surroundings before hitting his combadge.
"O'Brien, check out the U.S.S. Defiant, we're going back to
the Gamma Quadrant."
"Sure, no prob Commander," came back the curt reply.
Sisko just sat there staring out the window, finally giving
a grunt to no one in particular he got up to leave.
------
A Few hours later the command crew was meeting in Ops
for a briefing. Commander Sisko told everyone about the
suspected Borg activity in the Gamma Quadrant. "Ok now,
Dax, O'Brien, Kira(sp), Bashir, and Odo. We'll be leaving
in two hours."
Before the commander could continue Odo interrupted him
and said, "I'm sorry *Commander*, I'd rather not go." With
that he left.
Sisko scowled but held it back, "Kira, could you please
talk to Odo." With this the meeting ended and the group
dispersed to their separate tasks in preparation for the
upcoming mission.
------
"Odo, wait up!" Odo could hear Kira in the background
but just decided to ignore her and kept on walking.
Unfortunately she persisted and he was forced to acknowledge
her.
"I have nothing to say!"
"Odo, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, I just don't want to go back to the
*Dominian*," he said it with such conviction that it was
clear to anyone his dislike.
"But we need you."
"Hmmmph, I doubt it."
"If we need to contact the Dominion, you're our best
hope for a peaceful arrangement, you know that."
"I don't want to see those Founders again."
"Please come Odo," pleaded Kira with the best puppy
face she could muster.
"Well..."
"Please Odo. Do it for me."
"Fine, but I'm not going to enjoy it." he grumbled.
"Oh thank you!" she smiled as he walked off to say
good-bye to Quark.
------
The bridge of the U.S.S. Defiant was silent, almost as
if they were afraid even the slightest noise would bring the
full force of the Jem'Haddar against them. Quickly a
Jem'Haddar warship flew by heading in the same direction as
the other three they had seen earlier.
"Don't worry commander, I fixed the modification the
Marquee made to prevent detection with Anti-Protons," said
chief O'Brien trying to lighten up the mood a bit.
"Still, I don't know how much faith we should put in
it," remarked the obviously still worried Doctor.
"Luckily for us they seem to be more interested in
something else," reasoned the leader of this small band.
"Sensors picking up something, coming in range no," Dax
alerted.
"Odo," yelled Sisko, "Get on the Bridge now! What is
it?"
"I'm not sure, it appears to be wreckage of some sort."
The U.S.S. Defiant, bristling with weaponry, the most
powerful and heavily armored vessel in the Federation Fleet
approached a dead planet. It wasn't always dead, the
Defiant's records could confirm that. The remains of what
must have been a large battle orbiting around it. Parts of
almost 30 Jem'Haddar vessels could be made out with what was
obviously what was left of a Borg cube. The planet below
had been gutted of all cities and towns. The very
technology literally ripped from the surface.
"My God..." Dax gasped, breaking the silence, but then
faltering off.
The second one to regain use of his voice tried again.
"Dax, start a sensor sweep of the area, find out what
they've been up to."
"Aye sir, correlating now." There was another pause as
everyone considered how close the Borg were to the
Federation's doorstep. Everyone except one. She was
thinking how close they were to Bajor. Ten minutes later
Dax spoke up again, "It looks bad, they appear to be
advancing, assimilating everything in their path. They
started in sector 957 and have been working this way in a
regular pattern. And... what's this? There appears to be a
stable wormhole nearby and... Wha... It also appears to be a
temporal anomaly!"
A worried Bashir broke in, "Who ever is on the other
side of that wormhole is in grave danger of being
assimilated by the Borg. You're sure it's stable."
"Yes."
Kira began ordering, "set course to wormhole.."
Unable to continue as she was interrupted by Commander
Sisko, "Hey! I give the orders on the ship!"
"You can't just let those people die! We have to warn
them!"
Dax tried her suggestion, "We should investigate it for
scientific purposes, it's not everyday you find a stable
wormhole that's also a temporal anomaly; and it might give
us some answers about the Borg," she finished expectantly.
"Well... Ok old man," as he gave the order the U.S.S.
Defiant spun around in an amazing display of maneuverability
you would never have seen on the Enterprise. The small ship
sped on to the newly discovered wormhole, though don't let
the size fool you, this is one of the most heavily armored
vessels in the Alpha quadrant, but is it where they were
going? Soon they were enveloped by the swirling spirals of
light that constituted the wormhole. They were no longer in
the Gamma Quadrant.
------
Many minutes later, a trip much longer than the one
from Alpha to Gamma, they were released by the energies
awful grip, released back to the gruesome reality that made
up real space. But here they were. Where or when, they
didn't know.
------
It was a small planet. Oh not terribly small, but
small enough to avoid the dark stare of the Empire. There
was a small base on the planet, from here the rebellion for
this area was coordinated. Inside there was a meeting just
finishing up.
"Commander Thrakar, the A-Wing patrol reports no
Imperial activity on patrol 5B."
"Good, good, anything else?"
"Just a small distortion in Hyperspace at these
coordinates," she said as she pointed to a spot on the 3D
holographic map that stood predominately in the middle of
the room.
"Hmmph, as long as that isn't some new weapon being
developed by the Empire, I'd say the war is going along
well."
"If you call 3 bases being destroyed last week alone,
well."
"Just a minor setback, we plan to retaliate in a few
days, be patient," with that Commander Thrakar left the
briefing room to the more serious tones of the Command
Center. The X-Wing, Y-Wing, A-Wing, and B-Wing patrol
leaders dispersed to their separate hangar bays to prepare
for the counterattack that would happen in a few days hence.
------
The bar was bustling with activity. Several people
were there for a drink, but most were there to wrap up a
deal or hire a mercenary or make preparations to smuggle
something or bribe someone or... In strode a foreboding man
with a strange red-black uniform and someone whose face
didn't look quite right looking terribly out of place. Odo
looked like he was ready to arrest half the place, he
probably would have to if not for the looks given him by his
CO. They both sat down at a table. It didn't take long for
most of the mercs there to recognize the needful look on
their faces. Picking up on the cue Han Solo and the big
furry creature sat down next to them.
"Sooo. What can I help you with?"
The response was a simple on from Odo, "We're looking
for the government in charge, a..." he wasn't allowed to
finish as Chewabaca started growling and began to claw for
Odo's head. Odo, always prepared for anything, hardly
blinked as his head melted into his shoulders, safely out of
harm's treacherous way, as a new head started forming to
replace it.
"He don't like the Empire much," called the skillful
Merc who didn't look phased by Odo's unique talent. Instead
he just looked with eyes that had seen it all. Or almost
all.
"Listen!" Sisko bellowed with a more commanding tone,
"we are on a mission of peace! We must warn them the Borg
are coming!"
Han Solo started laughing, partly because he thought it
was funny, and partly to annoy them, "Now which mental
institute did you two crawl out of?"
"Well if that's how your going to act, we'll find
someone else to help us."
"No, no, wait! Sorry, Chewy'll behave."
Chewabaca howled in protest.
"Sorry bud, but they look like the rich type, business
you know," he said apologetically. He laughed again, "Now,
*where* do you want me to take you?"
"To whose ever in charge," calmly responded the
Commander.
"So not necessarily the Empire?"
"Who ever!" said Odo getting more exasperated.
"You're not from around here, are you? Listen I'm off
to the Lafiot system to smuggl... er... transport some
`cargo', I'll drop you two off at the Rebel base there,
ok?"
"Sounds good," Sisko said as he got up to leave anxious
to get out of that bar.
"Hey, wait a minute!" Han Solo protested, gesturing
them to sit down, "You're forgetting something, how much
your going to pay."
"What do you thinks a good price?"
"Something tells me you ain't gonna have any credits,
how does 2 million bars of platinum sound?" he said trying
to hold back laughing at the ridiculously high offer.
"One moment," replied Sisko and turned to Odo his look
giving the unsaid order. Odo quickly went to a more
secluded section of the bar, if you could call it that.
Tapping his combadge he began, "O'Brien, can you replicate 2
million bars of Platinum?"
"I suppose, but why?" came the confused response.
"Just do it. And have it prepared for transport."
"All right."
Odo came back to the table giving just a slight nod
with a world of meaning to Sisko. He turned in his chair to
face the mercenary.
"That's acceptable, will give it to you when we leave."
"All of it! Hehehe Your kidding... uh ok. Cool!
listen meet us in Dock 3B the ships the Millennium Falcon.
At 1500."
"Agreed," said Commander Sisko quickly getting up and
leaving anxious to leave that bar.
After he was safely out of earshot Han Solo couldn't be
heard laughing, "Sucker!"
------
The Commander stepped out of the drab and busy building
to the hot, barren, and drab street. Taking in the
surroundings, there were quite a few people scurrying about
going here and there all looking busy, and all looking
scared. They started to wander about looking around. He
was about to find someplace hidden to call for beam up, so
as not to break the Prime Directive. That was when it
happened. Just turned around and Bam! He walked right into
a storm trooper.
"Just who the hell do you think you are!?" he demanded.
That was when Odo intervened, "Just passing through,
we'll be on our way now."
"I don't like you attitude!" he rose his blaster and
fired. It didn't hit Odo of course, just went right through
the new hole in his abdomen. By then 20 more Storm Troopers
were almost there.
Fearing the situation would get more out of control
that it was already Commander Benjamin Sisko hit his
combadge, "Sisko to Defiant, two to beam up!"
"What the hell!?!" mumbled the startled Storm Trooper
out of shock. Quickly regaining control he ordered, "Inform
Bradazer of this, what ships are in orbit?"
"No ships, what happened? Where did they go? How did
they do that?"
------
The cloaked ship Defiant orbited the planet with it's
two new passengers.
"So much for the Prime Directive," said a not so
disappointed Sisko.
"Never cared much for it anyway," added the Constable.
"O'Brien, are those platinum bars ready?"
"Yes sir."
"Good, all we have to do then is wait for the
Millennium Falcon. Kira, were hitching a ride with some
mercenaries, follow us under cloak."
------
It was 1500. The hanger bay was filed with ships of
various types and sizes. Over in sector 3 stall B sat
proudly the Millennium Falcon. Inside the nervous Han Solo
worked on concealing the special `cargo' he was
`transporting.' He was unusually nervous, but then again he
never had visitors quite like these.
A dark closet shimmered with blue light for less then a
second. When it quieted two people left, two people who had
not been there before. They walked briskly to the awaiting
ship. This time commandeering fewer curious stares due to
the more appropriate clothes they had donned in favor of
their standard work uniform. Each carried only a duffel of
luggage, they were, after all, being followed by their ship
under the disguise of it's cloaking device. They had put
their communicators next to their phasers in the ruffles of
the cloth they wore. Not surprisingly it passed through
security without a hitch, they obviously weren't used to
such devices.
"So, look who decided to show up."
"It is 1500," said Odo matter of factually deciding he
really didn't like this man.
Han laughed again, if he was in Starfleet Commander
Sisko would have told him to shutup. "After your little
disappearing act with those Storm Troopers, I wasn't sure if
I'd see ya again."
"Uh, listen. I can explain," said a desperate Sisko.
He mustn't let anyone discover their technologies. It was
against the Prime Directive.
"Don't bother, you're one of those people who use that
`Force' stuff, aren't you?"
"Um... Yeah... Yeah! That's it!" said Sisko as he
regained his composure.
"You should meet Luke sometime."
"Ok," he replied not really caring in the least.
"Well, whatever. Come aboard, just don't touch
*anything!*" Han cautioned.
They boarded the ship as the ramp raised behind them
sealing them in. The ship took of through on of the massive
bay doors, just as one of the security guards recognized Odo
from the skirmish that afternoon.
------
"Commander Thrakar!" yelled the communications officer.
Before his outburst the command center had been relatively
quiet. The rebel officers had been looking intently at
their workstation monitors. Looking for anything, anything
at all that was even the slightest bit wrong. Well now the
comm. officer had found just that.
"What is it?" he sounded slightly annoyed as he said
it. With good right, he was about to go off duty, that
wouldn't be possible now.
"I've lost contact with the base NCG Resist."
"Did The Empire Find Them?!?!?!"
"There is no record of any imperial activity."
"Then what happened?"
"I don't know, it's just like they disappeared. Sir?
Wasn't Luke Skywalker positioned there?"
"Yea... Send out X-Wing Green Team to investigate."
"Aye sir."
------
"Something wrong?"
Chewy just made some strange sounds in response to the
Commander's question.
"Just go back to the passenger area," said the annoyed
Han Solo.
"Maybe I can help."
"No you can't"
"What's really wrong? Why aren't we in warp yet?"
"In what? Listen I'll tell you if you promise to get
outa my hair. We've... well I've detected a magnetic
resonance of a polarized beam."
"You mean we've been scanned?'
"You know about that stuff? Well do you know what the
Empire will do if they catch us? I'm not exactly of the
best of terms with them!"
"I wouldn't worry about that."
"If you know what's good for you I would. Now get outa
here while I get to hyperspace."
Sisko returned to the back of the ship and joined Odo
who was secretly resting as a pool of fluid. When he was
sure he was out of earshot he reached into his jacket and
activated his communicator, "Sisko to Defiant."
"How's it going old friend," Dax said sounding as happy
as ever.
"Just great. The company could be better though."
"Odo that bad?" she joked.
"I meant the mercenaries."
"Sure you did."
"Listen, it looks like their ship travels in hyperspace
and doesn't use a warp drive."
"Doesn't that work by making a controlled worm hole?"
"I think so, could you follow us through the one this
ship makes?"
"Sure thing, wouldn't want to be left behind."
"Great, see you there. Sisko out."
It was then that Solo walked into the room sat down and
put up his feet, relaxed, and picked up a drink that Sisko
had seen there when he came in and had been there for Q
knows how long. "So, tell me about yourself."
"What's there to tell?" asked Benjamin uneasy of what
to say.
"You did mention someone named Borp."
"Oh that! Listen, they're coming! That's why I have
to warn this `New Republic' you're taking me to."
"So it's more that one person?"
"It's a whole race dammit!" Sisko's anger building,
obviously being reminded of something very sensitive to him,
"they killed my wife!"
"Whoa, forget I asked." replied the merc, "so, where's
your friend?"
"Resting." said Sisko calming down. Trying to forget
that day at Wolf 359 like he had so many times before.
Solo was about to say something. What it was no one
will ever know for at that moment some whines and growls
came over the speaker from the hairy pilot.
"Damn!" Han yelled, "they found us!" as he ran to the
front of the ship.
As soon as he was gone Odo reformed and Sisko activated
his communicator, "Defiant, are you there?"
"Yes, we went through hyperspace with you. My God...
There's a huge wedge shaped ship out here."
"Be prepared to defend this ship, it looks like they're
after the people transporting us."
In the front of the ship a very nervous Han Solo had
just open a communication's channel with the star destroyer.
"So, what can a loyal subject do for you?"
"There are traitors on your ship, prepare to be
boarded, Executioner out."
He hit the comm. panel, "There's gonna be trouble, it
looks like they're after you, either use that Force stuff or
find a gun port and use it. Chewy get us outa here." Chewy
howled in delight as Solo went to his own gun port. Sisko,
however, had a better idea.
------
"Admiral, we have recognized the ship as the Millennium
Falcon, a trader ship."
"Good, launch a TIE squad for boarding to retrieve the
traitors."
"Aye sir!"
Several small fighters were launched from the bowls of
the large ship. The Falcon began evasive maneuvers as the
gunner gritted his teeth preparing to pull the trigger. But
there was no need to, they never got there.
On the Executioner several heads turned.
"What the hell happened?!? Report!"
"Sir... Admiral! Apparently when the TIEs get halfway
there some ship... some thing appeared out of no where and
destroyed them! It just came from nowhere! Then it just
disappeared again!"
------
On the Falcon an ecstatic Han Solo yelled out,
"Whatever you did Sisko, that was awesome! And to think I
didn't like that Force stuff at first," Odo just smirked as
he continued, "Chewy get us in hyperspace while they try to
figure out what happened.
------
Darth Vadar was working in one of his lavish quarters
on the Star Destroyer. But when IT happened he stopped
immediately. Something was wrong. Or was it? There was a
disturbance in the Force. Something was trying to control
the Dark Side. Who? Yes! It was Luke Skywalker! He had
finally his rebellion was futile, it was irrelevant! He was
coming to the Dark Side! He had to tell the Emperor, no, he
must know already. He must plan, the Executioner would be
at the Death Star soon, It was still not yet completely
finished. Though it had been tested on that rebel planet,
it still had a few minor detail to work out.
------
The bridge of the Star Destroyer saw several people
checking and double checking their readings, fearing if they
gave the wrong response the punishment would be severe. The
admiral had ordered to release a multitude of probes and to
record all sensor logs of what had happened. It was so busy
they almost missed the Millennium Falcon slip into
hyperspace. When they did, however, it was too late. They
were gone.
------
The bridge of the Defiant ran with a cool professional
calm. A handful of people directed the computer controlled
tasks. The same tasks it took hundreds of people to run on
the larger ship. The computer had targeted and destroyed
the fighters with such efficiency that it didn't miss a
shot, something the Human-controlled guns of the Executioner
couldn't say. The computer had executed the
decloaking/cloaking maneuver so quickly that the ship looked
like a blur. A blur with rapid automatic phaser fire that
snuffed out the TIEs from existence.
"Well that was easy," remarked Kira.
"Almost too easy," added Bashir, "They act like they've
never seen a cloaking device before."
"They probably haven't," said Jadzia.
Kira, who had let her attention wander, looked back
down on her console, "Wait! It looks like the Millennium
Falcon is going back into it's controlled wormhole, if it
goes we have no way to track or follow it! Set course
to..." before she could finish Kira silenced herself as the
Falcon shot out of sight.
"Benjamin..." called out Jadzia into the Darkness.
WAIT!! Don't flame me yet. I know that thing with the
Defiant able to follow ships in hyperspace is bull, but I
did see somewhere that ST thought of hyperspace as a
controlled wormhole effect. And that was the only was I
could think of to get the story to work. :) Other than
that, hope you enjoy it. Oh I am now almost done with part
2 and it looks like it WILL be at least 3 parts!

Well everyone, here is part two! Please, I would love
to hear anything you have to say to "site@xnet.com" I am
open to comments as I have part three pretty much planned
out already but could very well expand to more parts if
necessary.
The Relentless Force of the Future
By Douglas Armstrong
Part: Two
Darth Vadar walked onto the command center of the
Executioner as happy and giddy as a school girl, an insane
and evil school girl. Luke Skywalker had finally come to
the Dark Side. But then he found out they had lost the
traitors on the Millennium Falcon. Ahhh well, so the day
wasn't perfect. He killed the comm. officer, sure it wasn't
his fault, but it made him feel better anyway.
------
The Defiant, still concealed by the veil of her cloak
circled around the star destroyer, like a lost puppy who had
lost it's master, it had lost its commander, and of course
Odo. It didn't have to concern itself about the probes or
sensor sweeps as the cloak effortlessly kept it out of view.
It did, however, have to worry about getting to the Lafiot
system to meet up with the rest of its crew and try to warn
the New Republic that the Borg were approaching.
------
"Commander Thrakar, report coming in now from Green
Team."
"Put it on-speaker, let's see what they unearthed out
there," there was momentary static that coalesced into a
voice.
"Green Team here, I can just make out the base from
here. It looks okay. No sign of the Empire anywhere,
course they could be hiding inside. It seems entirely
intact. Except... What's this? There appears to be a...
No! Evasive maneuver! Green Team disperse, prepare for
attack formation Delta-7. Fire at will! Pr..." then the
static reigned once more, presiding where it had left off
filling the room with the ominous sound of the silent
screams from the dead.
"Get them back! Get them back! (rip-off from ST4:TVH
:)," screamed Thrakar even though deep down he knew it was
hopeless. They were gone, though somewhere even deeper
down, somewhere hidden in the unconscious of his mind he
knew they were not gone, but stripped of what they had once
been. Stripped of everything.
"I can't sir! There gone," the comm. officer
proclaimed as he desperately hit switch after switch praying
after each one that it would find them, and they would be
safe. But it was too late, they were gone.
------
"Dax, run the sensors again, do we have any way of
knowing where they went?" inquired Kira.
"No, all we know is that they're heading for the Lafiot
system. But we have no idea where that is," she answered
sounding as enthused as the Major.
"So we have no way of getting there? Were just
stranded here in the middle of nowhere!?!"
"With warp drive it will take us 5 years, 4 months to
get to the nearest base on my long range sensors. And
that's at warp 9.9," as soon as the words fell from her
mouth they fell to the floor were everyone's spirits were.
They were stranded here far from the civilization they knew.
"Unless!..." All eyes turned as in response to the
unasked question and looked with a reborn hope at the star
destroyer still hanging in space unable to figure out what
had happened within sight of it's bow. "Dax," started Kira,
"you and O'Brien prepare to board that ship, we have to make
it head to the Lafiot system."
"Sounds like fun," sarcastically voiced chief O'Brien.
------
"I may not be that good a judge of expression, but I
know that one. What's wrong?" inquired Odo.
"I can't seem to be able to raise the Defiant."
"You mean they didn't make it through the controlled
worm-hole?"
"Most likely."
"I see," Odo said in that way he had when something he
didn't like happened yet he could do nothing about it. He
never like not being in control, and, unfortunately, this
was one of those times.
The commander was forced to seize his conversation as
he heard Solo's voice, even far before he saw him starting
to come through the door. "Man! I gotta thank you again.
We woulda been toast if those TIEs boarded us. Listen,
sorry `bout that little diversion, it happens in my line of
work. I'll just cancel that pit-stop I was planing and we
should get there on time in about two days. Oh, hi Odo,
nice to see you back."
"Wish I could say the same," he whispered. Then said
louder, "Hmmph."
"So Ben, can you show me how to do that little trick of
yours."
"Well, it takes years of practice and discipline."
"Yeah, yeah. Luke said the same thing, though he does
all that dumb stuff with that light saber, you got one?"
"No, not really. I never liked them," bluffed Sisko
hoping Han wouldn't continue with this line of discussion.
------
"Here, put this on," offered O'Brien.
"What is it?" cautiously wondered Dax.
"Oh, it's just a transporter activator, it will beam
you back to the ship when you hit this button. it sends a
subspace message on a carrier wave that I changed the phase
displacement of by a quarter pi, they shouldn't be able to
block or detect it." She took it as clipped it on her arm,
she had just finished getting his other gizmos and was
impatiently waiting to go.
"I found an empty area," reported Bashir, "it looks
like some sort of storage area."
"Now remember," added Kira, "you have to get to the
computer some how and set a course for Lafiot."
"Ok, were ready."
"Good luck," said Bashir as the two stepped onto the
transporter pad to be whisked away.
They appeared in a dark room. Quickly regaining their
bearings they turned on their beamlights to vanquish the
darkness. Finding them selves in a large room with a high
ceiling that stored several TIE interceptor prototypes that
were being constructed.
"Hmm, interesting shuttles," remarked the science
officer, Dax.
"They look more like fighters to me," refuted the tech
officer.
"Right... A lot like the ones we destroyed before but
they look more advanced," as they had no need to garnish any
more information from them they moved to the walls on the
room to look for a computer terminal.
"Over here. This looks like something," called out
Dax.
O'Brien walked over to see what she was talking about.
It was a terminal complex with several indicators and a few
scattered monitors. Some were dark and empty, while others
were alive giving off almost meaningless information to
whoever might walk by. The only form on input, however,
appeared to be a complex circular hole of some sort.
"Interesting, let me take a look at that." He pulled
out a complex device which had several prongs sticking out
with different shapes, looking oddly like a thief's lock
picking set. He hit a switch on it as it sprang to life
doing whatever it was that it did. Making a multitude of
adjustments to get it to do what he wanted he began to scan
the area, then took one of the thinner protrusions and tried
fitting it in the hole to see what he could discover.
Nothing of interest happened. The only sound in the room
was the echoes of him muttering techno babble to himself
that would have sounded like a long forgotten and ancient
language to your average listener. Soon, though, the room
flared up with red klaxons flashing and sirens emitting
there call for the first time in their career. "Oops."
"Oops! You set off the...! Oh never mind. We have to
get out of here." No sooner had she spoken than the immense
blast doors on the far side of the room opened revealing the
corridor beyond. White light from the bright lights on that
side poring into the room soon followed by the soldiers,
also dressed in white. Reflexively they both unveiled their
phasers and dove for cover behind one of the fighters. They
exchanged fire with the storm troopers for just a short time
before Darth Vadar proudly strode in.
"Rebels! You will pay for you insolence!" he cried
standing in the clear making a perfect target. Seizing the
opportunity Dax took her time to aim and fire with the
phaser in her hand. He was not worried however, he had his
light saber and it was child's play to block a blaster shot
with it. He was surprised, though, when the shot hit his
armor knocking him down to his knees. No eyes, well, maybe
Data's, could have seen it, but Vadar was used to the lasers
which shot at the speed of light. Those were easy to block.
These phasers, on the contrary, shot at the speed of
subspace. They only scarred his chest-plate so he figured
they must not be as powerful, of course he also wasn't used
to a stun setting. Fumed at being embarrassed before his
men he shouted out, "Fools! You will lose you lives for
that!" He then began to access the true power of the Dark
Side to move matter. It didn't take much, just a little
squeeze of the wind pipe or a vein in the head and most
people would die. He would have done just that, but as he
reached out to touch the Force he was aghast at what he
found. Blacking out, he keeled over unto the deck plate
falling with a loud clang. This had all happened in an
instant and Dax had thought her phaser did it and so didn't
give it a second thought moving on to her next target. The
troopers, on the other hand, didn't expect their Lord to
fall and were thrown back in amazement. Still, outnumbering
the `Rebels' they were able to capture Dax and O'Brien with
minimal casualties. Sending them off to the detention cell
they called in for a doctor for Vadar. No need to say that
was the last thing the doctor wanted to hear. His Lord
would no doubt be angry and no one wanted to be the first
person seen by him when he awoke.
------
Luke Skywalker tried to fight the Dark Force that was
overwhelming him. He felt his will slipping from him. He
mustn't go to the Dark Side, he mustn't! He knew the battle
was hopeless. Giving his last try he settled down to let
the darkness sweep him away. Pouring into the darkest
cervices of his soul, filling him, devouring him, it was
controlling him. The last thought from the good Skywalker
was one of hope, knowing that, at last, he would be able to
see his father as a friend.
------
The Falcon swooped down from the star studded darkness.
Below It was a well vegetated jungle. A profusion of
species could be discerned, showing off in the light of the
afternoon sun. Some scaled bird-like creatures flew up in
the air where the Falcon had been wondering, in some
primitive animal way, what the `bird' was. It was losing
altitude, the top of the canopy offering to devour her if
her skilled pilot wavered from his task for a moment. Just
when she screamed, `Enough!' the pilot dove into an opening
in the canopy. Trees flew by, eventually giving way to some
large metal doors. they were overgrown with vines and all
plethora of living creatures, much like the base that was
attached to it. Completely covered by the jungle's shade it
was invisible until one actually ventured below the jungle's
upper layers, down where one expected dirt, and got it,
covering the roof of the hidden center for as long as many
of the people inside could remember. Now, through the
recently opened entrance, the Millennium Falcon was granted
admittance. Giving off several landing thruster shots it
perched on the ground at the nearest landing pad. It's
ramp descended unto the deck permitting the rebel landing
crew a full view as Han Solo, Chewie, Sisko, and Odo
emerged.
One of the landing techs spoke up, "Solo, you brought
the supply of Dendraphic?" Dendraphic was a substance so
necessary for the running of this base. Because of it's
explosive constitution and compact size it was perfect for
landing thrusters.
"Yep, but you guys owe me 10,000 more credits before
you get it."
"Right," then she leaned over and whispered something
into another tech's ear who then immediately ran off.
Sisko walked forward determined to do what he came here
for, "I must speak with the leader of this base."
"Who are you?"
"A representative from the United Federation of
Planets. I must warn your New Republic."
"Well, ok. Follow me. Solo, you gonna stay and help
us with the counterattack?"
"What are you crazy! I'm getting my money then high
tailing it outa here."
The tech just grunted and walked off across the bay.
The Federation officer and Bajoren constable followed
closely behind.
------
Darth Vader slept.
"No! Go away! Get Away!"
He slept on.
------
"What does this do!?!" demanded one of the human
operators there. He was commanding one or several torture
drones. In his hand was the transporter activator that
O'Brien had given to Dax. Now, though it was in his hand.
Before he had asked questions about the phasers they used,
he was working his way through all of the stuff they brought
that were now sitting in a rack right next to his shoulder.
Soon he would get to that weird device that O'Brien had used
to trigger off the alarm system. He didn't have any more
hope for that, though, he just wasn't getting any answers.
He thought he would try something simple, like the strange
uniforms they wore. He had thought they didn't look like
any Rebel uniforms, and O'Brien confirmed that. Of course
his answer was a cryptic one giving no more information then
if he would have been silent, simply saying he was from some
sort of `Federation.' What he had been really hoping for
was to find out what they did to his Lord. Finally giving
up he pushed a few more buttons, heard a few satisfying
screams of terror, and then leaned over to his assistant.
"Well, doesn't look like were going to get any more
from these two. Get them up and throw them back into their
cells."
A nod of confirmation followed as he ordered the droids
to help him. They walked down the hall without event and
threw them into the cell at the far end. They should be
conscience in a few hours.
------
"What's going on..." Kira impatiently tapped on her
chair's armrest.
"You get the feeling our group is shrinking. First we
were six, then Sisko and Odo left to make it four. Now
O'Brien and Dax aren't responding to ma..."
"Ok! I get the idea!"
"Sorry, I just Thought..."
"Don't! Ok?"
"When was the last time you got any rest Major?"
"Arrrgh, don't start that again! I'm just worried
about Dax and O'Brien, they should have checked in by now,
and they don't answer our calls."
------
Some of the devices in the rack chirped, filling the
room with the sound. The two people there had been quiet,
listening for just such a sound.
"There it is again!" offered his assistant.
"Interesting," said the same officer who had conducted
the `interrogation' mere minutes before.
"Should we do something?"
"I don't think so. It might be a trick to get us to
touch it then, Boom!, it explodes. I've seen the Rebels use
them before," said the voice of experience.
"It might explode if we don't touch it."
"True, let's just leave."
"Good idea."
They both got up to leave, but just before he left he
stopped, thought a second, then turned around. "Wait, let
me just get that one gizmo," he carefully reached down and
picked up the transporter activator careful not to touch the
chirping communicator. Quickly they both left hoping they
didn't set anything off,
"What is it?"
"I don't know. I think it's some sort of weapon (what
else :). Maybe what they used against our Lord. I've been
dying to try it out on the next disobedient subordinate."
His assistant immediately stiffened and determined not to be
that person.
------
A few moans could be heard coming from chief O'Brien.
"relax, were ok now," reassured Dax.
"Uuuuhhhh. Where are we... oh yeah. When did you get
up?"
"Just a few minutes ago."
"You still have your communicator?"
"No, they took everything, even the transporter
activator I hid."
"*Great*, now what?"
As in a response to his rhetorical question the door
opened. In came two storm troopers. Reflexively both
Starfleet officer's training kicked in and they rammed the
first one knocking him to the ground. Preparing to tackle
the second one they stopped when he took off his helmet.
"Wait! We're friends! We're supposed to come here to
bring you food, but we're really Rebel operatives. After we
saw what you did we thought we should rescue you, come on
hurry up and follow us."
They all got up and filled out of the small cell
pausing a bit for the disorientated Rebel operative to
regain his balance. Quickly running down the hall they
practically ran into the `Interrogator.'
"Stop! Rebel spies!" Seizing this as an opportunity
to use his new toy. He pointed what he thought the tip was
at the disguised storm troopers. With cat-like reflexes he
pushed the little button.
------
"Kira! Their calling for transport!" reported our good
doctor.
"They must be in trouble, beam them out immediately!"
"I'm trying, it's hard to get a lock as their not
wearing their communicators..."
"Why would..."
"...I got them! Beaming now!"
They both stared at the transporter pad expecting to
find their friends there. But that was not what they got.
Instead they received a very confused Imperial officer and a
very scared assistant.
"Damn!" yelled Kira as she picked up a phaser,
"Identify yourselves!"
"Uhhhhh..." tried the normally so eloquent officer now
having no useful control over his voice whatsoever.
Thoughts of panic and confusion ripped through his
conscienceness like the chaos that all of us have evolved
from. Regressing in mind to an earlier younger age he knew
not what to do. He was lost, his world taken from him as if
being ripped from his reality by the gods.
------
Commander Thrakar left the command center in a somewhat
agitated mood. He had just lost contact with Green Team.
He put that thought in the back of his mind next to all of
his other dark memories he had accumulated from the war.
With that preparation he opened the door to greet the new
Ambassador.
"Commander," beamed Sisko as he saw the door open
revealing Thrakar realizing he finally found the person he
was looking for.
"It's about time," criticized Odo.
"Yea," murmured Thrakar, "Now where did you say you
were from again?"
"The Federation of Planets. Can we go somewhere
private?"
"Sure, follow me," they both started to walk down the
hall leaving an exasperated Odo behind. I haven't heard of
your group before, you must be one of those small nations by
the Regologh system that the Empire was planning to conquer
in two months."
Sisko laughed, "We have a lot to discuss, we're
actually a large organization in another galaxy."
"Another Galaxy?"
"We came through some sort of worm hole to warn you
that the Borg are coming."
They arrived at a door leading to an old meeting room
which was now empty. They both sat down and prepared to
discuss many things.
------
O'Brien and Dax had just watched the two foolish
Imperial officers beam themselves away. Needless to say
(But I will anyway) the two Rebel operatives were in shock.
"Come on, snap out of it!" said Dax.
"We need to get our communicators," said Dax.
"Yeah, yeah," muttered the Rebel as he followed them,
looking warily over his shoulder. Not knowing what happened
they decided to forget it ever happened, a reaction common
to people when they see things they don't understand. They
soon came upon the door that they remembered the
communicators being stored in. Despite their best efforts,
however, it remained closed and locked. The rebels admitted
that they could break the security codes in the computer to
open the door but they said it would bring them to the
attention of the internal security forces. And despite the
two Federation officer's best attempt to convince them that
if they got their comm. badges they could escape the Rebels
didn't see how this was possible as their wasn't even a ship
nearby and decided it wasn't a priority.
Forced to follow the Rebels for fear of getting lost
and never getting out they followed them to an area that had
been previously prepared for the hiding of Rebel personal.
It was about a quarter mile trek that had fortunately been
without incident. Passing by several terminals O'Brien had
asked if they could change course for the Lafiot system.
The leader of the two operatives laughed nervously then
groaned when he realized that they were very serious.
"How do you know about that place? Listen, don't tell
it to *anybody* no matter how much they torture you."
"Woah," said the startled Dax a little louder now that
they had gotten to the shielded hiding place, "what's going
on here? What are you *rebels* fighting for? I thought the
`New Republic' was in charge."
The two operatives looked down in dismay, "The New
Republic is the rebellion, we are fighting against the
tyrannical Empire. Join us, get your `Federation' to send
some ships here, together we..."
"No," interrupted Dax, "it's against Federation policy
to interfere in the interior affairs of another race."
------
"No," interrupted Sisko, "it's against Federation
policy to interfere in the interior affairs of another race.
I'm sorry, but we came here to warn you against the Borg.
We will join you to fight against them as a common enemy."
"Well," Thrakar rationalized, "we can't start war
against someone we haven't seen. We don't even know they
exist. Besides, I'm sure there not as bad as you make them
sound. The Empire is our sole concern. We will be counter
attacking in two days. I'm sorry but I will have to ask you
to stay here under our supervision so we can make sure you
don't tell the Empire anything." He veered down at a
computer terminal and quickly typed in a password. "Listen,
Andor, can you get our guests from the Millennium Falcon
some place to stay for a few days."
"Sure," came the response, "no prob. Oh, by the way,
that Mr. Solo is asking for his money. Should we give it to
him?"
Thrakar chuckled to himself, "No... No, not yet."
"Ok... Wait... Sir! A message is coming in from the
remains of Green Team."
"What! Patch me in!"
Static could be heard. A slight murmur of voice could
barely be deciphered in the background. "We... We were
attacked! Everyone else is dead. I've lost my hyperdrive.
It was some... some sort of new Imperial ship. Damn, it was
strong! We couldn't even scratch it! No, not again!
Nooooo!" A calm voice could be heard in the background then
the static resumed. The voice had come from static, and to
static it will return. To babble on for infinity only
periodically being interrupted by intelligent transmissions,
to live on forever in the future. The relentless sound of
the heavens.
"No!" screamed Commander Thrakar having his worst fears
confirmed. "No! That's it! We attack Now! Contact the
other bases to coordinate." He turned to Sisko, "If you're
going to help us, help us now."
"I'm sorry, I can't." With that Thrakar left as some
warning klaxons came on. Leaving Sisko behind realizing
that he really couldn't help them, he really couldn't do
anything since he couldn't contact the Defiant. He left the
room a few moments after the his corresponding Commander
left and went to the landing bay to meet Odo by the Falcon.
------
"What!" protested Han Solo.
"I'm sorry," smirked the tech, "but those are Thrakar's
orders directly."
"There is no way I'm fighting for you, no matter what
the damn cause."
"Listen, either you come and help us fight in ten
minutes or you don't get your money."
"But I need that money!"
"Then I guess you need to fight. End of story."
"Damn you!" Solo then regressed in defeat back to his
ship and got it ready to fight. Well he did *need* that
money. That was when Sisko came.
"Odo, what's going on?"
Odo rolled his eyes, "looks like they're making our
merc fight for them."
"What? *Great* Did you get any word from the
Defiant?"
"No, looks like were in for an interesting battle."
"With us in the middle," sighed Sisko as he slowly
boarded the Falcon on its way to the counter attack.
------
"Kira, the other ship is beginning to move!"
"Where?" she gasped being interrupted from her
interrogation of the two Imperial officers.
"I don't know, but it's giving off some interesting
power readings. Much like those that the Millennium Falcon
gave off just before it creates its controlled wormhole.
"Where is it going?!?" Kira directed her question to
the Imperial.
"My name is Reagent Commander Dread Scott, registry
number 16798-HB56." came his defiant response.
Kira rolled her eyes. Well, she had good reason to,
that was all they had said since they had come aboard. In
response to every question when asked that was all they
said.
"Well can you at least tell us where you were planning
to go?"
"My name is Reagent Commander Dread Scott, registry
number 167...
"Oh shutup!!" She turned back to Bashir, "Maybe
O'Brien and Dax succeeded."
"Maybe, though we still haven't heard from them. We
better follow it anyway or get stuck here forever. Setting
course now.
The U.S.S. Defiant could Not be seen as it got in close
range of the wedge shaped ship. Both were soon blasted
through the fabric of space towards a destination that many
did not know.
------
The Death Star could be seen orbiting around Endor. A
huge mass of technology built for war. Capable of immense
destruction it was rivaled by none in its Galaxy. It was
neighbored by seven other Star Destroyers and Super Star
Destroyers each one a small city in their own regards. But
they were all dwarfed by the greatness of the artificial
moon. A man-made wonder turned to the dark side. It soon
had a new neighbor as it was joined by a new Star Destroyer,
the Executioner.
Well, there it is. Hope you are enjoying it so far. I
tried not to be *too* partial to either side and I'm sure if
there are any inconsistencies I will be flamed about it. I
am now about to start part three, the climax!
